The Nomad & Nest ‘Tattoo for Life’
Our brief to the Hoffi boys was to design and develop a brand mark based on the metaphor for a tattoo that would be our mark of originality, authenticity and become a kind of urban tribal mark that would be intrinsic to Nomad & Nests community values and community-spirit. Called ‘Tattoo for Life’ the Tattoo is designed to be applied to all our products. It represents the free-spirited nature, pure individuality and uniqueness of each product so it never turns up in the same place. The Tattoo has two contrasting textures to its personality – the classically well-behaved side and the well-worn rebellious side. Being made up of 8 individual fragments, the tattoo has been designed to be de-constructed for future artistic and design interpretation, freedom and some experimental play.
I (Ange) first met the Hoffi boys at the Welsh Bilingual Design Awards when I was Chair of the judging panel. Hoffi was a new design agency set up by the talented and experienced three, all passionate about their specialist areas in branding, communications and digital design. They won the award for Best New-comer. They were fresh, alternative and inspired. We didn’t hesitate in giving them our Tattoo brief – best guys for the job in our opinion. Now we’re cosy neighbours in the same building, we have ‘studio envy’ between us, we go out to play and on special occasions we indulge in cocktails and more cocktails, we all love cake, we collaborate and scheme in the world of design and both Hoffi and Nomad & Nest share the same birthday and we’re the same age. We kind of feel they’re a pretty important part of Nomad & Nest. Well who do you think we commissioned to design and build our website too?
